There is something about an image taking it from SOOC (straight out of camera) to a full edit, and doing it correctly.   Photoshop is not for “fixing” mistakes, but to take that gorgeous shot to the next level.  When I am shooting, I am visualizing what will be done in post processing to produce the final shot.

How does it work?

  • Each week you will get a pdf lesson with an assignment
  • Weeks 2 & 4 you will get a video watching me edit
  • There will be a private Flickr group for all class members
  • You can choose to be either an active or inactive student
  • I will be teaching using Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 4, both of which can be downloaded for a free 30 day trial from Adobe.com.  Most of the things I teach in Photoshop can be done in elements, however, I am unfamiliar with this program.

Difference between Active and Inactive participants:

  • An active student can ask questions within our private Flickr group and be able to submit their assignments for critique by me.
  • An Inactive student will get all the material and can read the questions and answers in our private Flickr group as well as look at their active peer’s assignments and critiques.  They can not ask their own questions or submit their assignments.

Our private Flickr group:

The private Flickr group will be available to all class participants.  Only the active students will be able to post.

Private Facebook Group:

After class, everyone will be invited to a private Facebook group where everyone (active & inactive students) can share their images and ask questions to their peers.  There will be one Facebook group for all Mastering the Edit classes, so you will have a nice network of new friends.  I will not be actively a part of this group, but may stop by from time to time to see how everyone is doing.
